In my late teens, I grappled with my mental health, resorting to drugs to numb the pain. Yet, it only worsened my situation. At the age of 20, I hit rock bottom, contemplating suicide as my only escape. I stood at the precipice, ready to end it all at a place filled with cherished memories from childhood to adolescence—a place significant to my family.
What stopped me was the profound love my parents had for that place. I couldn't ruin such a special location for them, even though my life felt devoid of meaning. That moment led me to seek help. I began therapy, which helped to some extent, but I wasn't fully committed to change.
Later, I decided to move away. I spent two transformative years in Australia, discovering myself and gaining confidence. Returning home in 2019 brought unexpected challenges. Feeling like nothing had changed, I decided to run again, this time to Canada.
A few months before I was due to leave, I met my partner in Edinburgh, and our connection altered my plans. I postponed my departure, only to face a world shutdown. Despite the uncertainties, we supported each other for the first years of our relationship.
As time passed, Nowhere to RUN. The next four years flew by and I slowly started to lose myself, as the time went on I had forgotten the man I had become from my travels and I was reverting back to the boy I struggled to be growing up. All of the stuff I thought I had dealt with but was actually only running away from were coming back up. I was still trying to run. I used work as much as possible to hide. Overtime that feeling of being lost, grew and manifested into problems both within myself and in my relationship. At the time I felt I didn’t have the tools or the guidance to move through these challenges, and I chose to self-sabotage, ending my 4 year relationship.
Not long later, I was faced with a choice—continue running or confront my issues—I decided it was time to take control.
This journey led me to self-discovery, embracing holistic healing methods, mens work, coaching, and breath work. A dedicated year to my healing propelled me to hire a life coach and undergo coaching training. Through this process, I identified unique sabotage patterns, rewrote beliefs around worthiness and deserving love and success. In this space, I've connected with men committed to personal growth, breaking free from unhealthy dynamics, and showing up for themselves and their families.
Now, as an accredited life coach, my mission is to give back by helping others navigate their struggles, just as I did. I believe that if I can take control of my life, so can you.
Join me on the path to self-discovery and creating a meaningful life.
Much love,
Sam
